1. How does a Water Ionizer work?

Connecting directly to your faucet, a water ionizer uses a two-step process: The first task is to filter out harmful components of the water. Enagic Ionizers achieve this by the use of a multistage activated carbon filter containing antibacterial granular activated carbon and Calcium Sulfite. This three-layered high-powered water-cleaning filter removes matters such as lead, chlorine, effluvium, rust and other impurities – yet, it still keeps the minerals. (Taken from the SD 501 Brochure) Next, a small electrical charge is introduced into the water through platinum-coated titanium electrodes. The process of electrolysis that follows takes place in a chamber designed to separate the water into two streams of ionized water. A range of pH settings from neutral to very alkaline or very acid is available at the touch of a button. The electrodes are cleaned in an automatic cleaning cycle.

2. What are the various levels of alkalinity and acidity (pH) for?

Enagic water Ionizers provide, at the push of a button, water that varies from mildly alkaline to highly alkaline. This enables you to accustom yourself gradually to higher levels of alkaline drinking water (e.g. pH 8.5 to pH9.5). You should start slowly with one glass of ionized water at the lowest alkaline setting and work your way up over a few weeks to higher levels and amounts. If you experience any discomfort from detoxification, just move back to the previous level or smaller quantities. It also allows different members of the family to dial up their preferred level. The highest levels of alkalinity are for cooking. In addition there is a button for water that is “clean” water, which is filtered but not ionized. Its pH level will be close to the level of your regular tap water. This water is for those taking medications, which should not be combined with alkaline water.

3. What type of water can I use to produce ionized water?

Regular tap water is best. Distilled water or water filtered by reverse osmosis does not have any minerals, therefore it cannot be ionized.

4. What if I have well water?

Water ionizers can also be used with most well water. The two most common problems found in well water are hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg, sulfur smell) and high iron content. Both of these conditions can be remedied with the proper pre-filter. The mineral content of your source water directly affects the strength of ionized water you can produce. The more minerals, the stronger the ionization: higher alkalinity and higher antioxidant potential. We recommend an additional KDF Filter for people who have wells. This is a pre-filter that filters the water before it goes into your Ionizer.

5. Can I store the water? If so, for how long?

Yes, alkaline ionized water is best kept in an airtight glass or plastic container. Black Plastic containers have proven to be the best…these are available from Enagic. It can be refrigerated or kept in a cool place. Avoid storage in metal, especially aluminum containers. The alkaline properties will be retained for 1-2 weeks, but they are strongest when fresh (immediately out of the machine is best but certainly within the first 3 days). The antioxidant properties start to diminish after 18-24 hours. So for the best benefits, drink it within a day or so.

6. Is it OK for children to drink ionized water?

Yes and No…depending on the child’s age. Since children have usually not accumulated toxins in their bodies, they experience no detoxification symptoms. Children should start with a low pH and raise the pH level gradually as they get accustomed to the water. For infants (under one year old), drinking Kangen water™ is not recommended, because until they can eat the same meals as adults, their intestinal functions with milk are different from those of normal adults. Note that Kangen water™ absolutely should not be used with milk formula that is given to babies or infants.

7. Can I over-alkalize?

The alkaline water isn’t loaded with alkaline minerals that will keep on alkalizing when in your body. It is loaded with sacrificial hydrogen ions that unites with positively charged molecules in your body. Then their work is finished. I’ve never seen anyone too alkaline. Alkalinity, unlike acidity, is managed by the body by immediate limination. As always consult a health practitioner if you have health issues.

8. Isn't Reverse Osmosis the most effective water filter?

Yes. It is so effective that it takes all minerals and everything out, making the water so ’empty’ that it will begin uniting with CO2 in the air and turning acid. RO systems are not popular today because they waste approximately 9 liters per liter supplied.

9. What about a distiller? That doesn't waste water.

True. A distiller doesn’t waste water, but it is very power-hungry and has the same problem of RO. It is also so ‘clean’ that it also ends up acidic. If you look at our own history, you’ll realize we have never had access to pure water and therefore our bodies are not made to process it. We need mineralized alkaline water because that’s what we are made of; saline, mineralized, alkaline water! Drinking pure water – remembering the fact that the body is always balancing everything – means it has to find minerals from it’s own reserves to mineralize the water you paid so much to process and drink!

10. Lots of systems say they alkalize.

Many do, but many do just by adding alkaline minerals – usually calcium – to the water as it is filtered. You still get all the acids in the water.

11. What advantages does ionized water have over reverse osmosis or distillation?

Unlike Reverse Osmosis (RO) and distillation, which remove all minerals – leaving the water dead – ionized water concentrates health-giving alkaline minerals like magnesium and calcium, after removing all harmful contaminants. Water from RO and distillation is very acid (pH 4.5-5.7) and so contributes to the overacidity of our bodies. Alkaline water helps counteract acid / alkaline imbalance. Because RO and Distilled waters are mineral deficient and strongly acid, there are warnings from a number of physicians not to drink them on a sustained basis. While RO and distilled waters are strongly oxidizing, alkaline ionized water is a proven powerful antioxidant, equivalent to fresh squeezed orange juice. Having been completely demineralized, RO and distilled water are – understandably – flat tasting. The tastiness of water from Enagic Ionizers is one of its most immediate qualities: it brings delighted responses from everyone! Along with this go superior hydrating qualities. Finally, let’s compare the ongoing costs: In-home RO water is approximately 20% more expensive than ionized water. In-home distillation is 700 – 1000% more expensive than ionized water.

12. Are there any cautions about drinking alkaline ionized water?

Yes. You should start slowly. Set the controls to the lowest level of 8.5 Alkaline and start by drinking one to three glasses per day. Assuming the water agrees with you, Again… you must increase the amount you drink and the level of ionization intensity. Drink 8.5 water for two weeks and then move to 9.0 water. High levels of alkalinity -up to 9.5 – are best for drinking water; the highest levels can be used for cooking. In a few individuals, the etoxification effects from drinking alkaline ionized water can cause headaches and diarrhea for a short time. And for some older people, ionized water can tend, at first, to open the bowels. This is why a slow start is advised. Use the “Clean Water” setting for taking any medications that your doctor advises not to be taken with alkaline water. Do not drink the acid water. Having said all of the above, be aware that millions of Japanese have been drinking alkaline ionized water daily over the last 30 years. The water ionizer has been approved as a Household Medical Device by the government of Japan. In addition, test results on safety by the Welfare Ministry in Japan reveal no harmful influences on the body.

13. Why should I remove chlorine from my drinking and bathing water?

Dr. Zoltan Rona, M.D. M.Sc. answers: “Most people never give (the dangers of chlorine) a thought. After all, our elected public officials keep assuring us that chlorinated city tap water is completely safe for human consumption. Numerous scientific studies report that chlorinated tap water is a skin irritant and can be associated with rashes like eczema. “Chlorinated water contains chemical compounds called trihalomethanes which are carcinogens resulting from the combination of chlorine with compounds in water. These chemicals, also known as organochlorides, do not degrade very well and are generally stored in the fatty tissues of the body (breast, other fatty areas, mother’s milk, blood and semen). Organochlorides can cause mutations by altering DNA, suppress immune system function and interfere with the natural controls of cell growth. “Chlorine has been documented to aggravate asthma…several studies also link chlorine and chlorinated by-products to a greater incidence of bladder, breast and bowel cancer as well as malignant melanoma. One study even links the use of chlorinated tap water to congenital cardiac anomalies. Anything you can do to filter tap and shower water that eliminates or minimizes chlorine would certainly be helpful and possibly curative for some immune system problems. 14. What is acidosis?

Every living cell within our body creates waste products. The nutrients from our food are delivered to each cell and they burn with oxygen to provide energy for us to live. The burned nutrients are the waste products. Whether you eat the best of foods or the worst, |all foods generate waste products. Foods, when classified as good or bad, are based on the amount and quality of the waste products they produce. Most of our cells go through metabolism and these old dead cells become waste products. Our body will discharge this waste through urine and perspiration. Basically, all waste products are acidic, that is the reason our skin and urine has a low pH level. The real problem is that our body does not get rid of 100% of the waste it produces. Our life style, such as lack of rest, types of foods we eat and our environment helps produce these waste products, but does not help us eliminate them. In the vast majority of Westerners, diets heavy in meat, fried foods, soft drinks, and sweets build up acid salts in the body, as does stress and exposure to environmental pollutants. What happens to those non-disposed acid wastes? As they build up within our body, these waste products become solid wastes, such as cholesterol, fatty acid, kidney stones, etc. This accumulation of non-disposed acidic wastes is called acidosis. This condition accelerates the degeneration of cells, tissues, and the body as a whole. It accelerates the aging process. Drinking alkaline water makes it easier for the body to dispose of acid wastes. Just as the accumulation of wastes accelerates the aging process, the reduction of acid wastes retards the aging process….perhaps – according to Sang Whang — even reversing it. Alkaline water is not a medicine to treat or cure any diseases but if consumed regularly, alkaline water reduces acid waste, allowing a natural health improvement.

15. Is alkaline water suitable for livestock and pets?

Alkaline water is used for horses, commercial dairy operations and for dogs and cats.

16. When and how often should I drink Kangen water™?

Generally speaking, start gradually with a cup of Kangen water™ of a lower pH (pH8.5 to 9.0). After continuing to drink for about two weeks, gradually increase the volume and raise the pH according to your body-build and physical condition. At a pH level of 9.0 to 9.5, drink the Kangen water™ as soon as possible after making it. Children or elderly persons should start with a low pH and raise the pH level gradually as they get accustomed to the water. For infants (under one year old), drinking Kangen water™ is not recommended, because until they can eat the same meals as adults, their intestinal functions with milk are different from those of normal adults. Note that Kangen water™ absolutely should not be used with milk that is given to babies or infants. Orderly, timely and rhythmical behavior is important to the human body in every respect. This also applies to the habit of drinking water, which should be done regularly 30 minutes to an hour before eating a meal. By doing so, the water that you drink is already in the intestines by the time you eat, and your appetite will not be affected by water in your stomach. In addition, your stomach acid will not be diluted by the water. After eating at around 6:00 or 7:00 in the evening, you should not eat or drink much. Some people think that drinking a lot of water at bedtime is fine, but it is better to limit it to one glass. In general, you can get moisture from food the food you eat, but the effects of drinking fresh water are significant. Regularly drinking Kangen water™ keeps the gastrointestinal system clean, and keeps you feeling young and beautiful. The health of your body can be maintained by the smooth circulation of water. Your drinking habits can be tailored to the seasons; for example, we recommend drinking warm Kangen water™ in winter.

17. What are the favorable reactions to drinking Kangen water™? Are there ever any unfavorable reactions?

It is clear that drinking Kangen water™ is good for the gastrointestinal system; however, in rare cases, drinkers may suffer from constipation or diarrhea for several days or several weeks after starting to drink, depending on his/her body-build or way of drinking. This is similar to the strong effect called the Mengen reaction (literally dizziness) in Chinese herbal medicine. If you experience this reaction, reduce your drinking volume down to a half or a quarter for a period of time. When the symptoms subside, resume regular drinking of Kangen Water™, but in smaller volumes than the before. Ceasing to drink produces a negative bodily reaction, so you should continue drinking. If the symptoms do not subside, consult with your health care provider.

18. What is the white turbidity that appears when generating Kangen water™?

If the white turbidity in the generated Kangen water™ becomes clear when water is left alone in a glass for a while, it is hydrogen gas generated during electrolysis, and is nothing to worry about. Concerning hydrogen, study results were introduced at the Japan Functional Water Symposium held focusing on electrolytic dissolved hydrogen. It was also said that dissolved hydrogen in colloidal form is of higher potency than the negligible volume of instantly generated active hydrogen. It was also confirmed that further multidisciplinary data acquisition was being done for scientific verification.

19. Why did the U.S. International Earth Environment University give an award to Enagic?

This is because the Enagic water technology produces acidic water for cleaning which reduces the necessity for other detergent products. This acidic water is also highly beneficial and prevents water pollution. By drinking Kangen water™, the demand for plastic bottles, which are a major source of environmental pollution, is reduced. When making electrolyzed water, both Kangen and acidic waters are produced. These waters benefit sanitation (as an antiseptic) and in health (with regards to common illnesses) thereby improving the environment. Drinking Kangen water™ is practicing preventive medicine, hence contributing to the significant reduction of public medical costs.

20. How should I drink Kangen water™?

We would recommend you to start drinking it at lower pH level of pH 8.5 with a daily consumption of 1~2 glasses…increasing by a or two glasses per day… continued for about 2 weeks to get used to Kangen Water™. Then, gradually increase the pH level – every two weeks until you reach the 9.5, which is the maximum recommended alkalinity for drinking water. Healthy people should drink two to three liters of Kangen water™ (divided into several cups) before meals. Anyone with a health problem should consult a health care provider. The typical therapeutic amount is 1 liter of alkaline water for every 30 pounds of body weight. Once you get rid of all the accumulated acid wastes, you may be able to reduce that amount to ½ or 2/3 ounce per pound of body weight – if you are watching your diet and leading an alkaline lifestyle. Do not drink a lot of Kangen water™ at random. Instead, make it a rule to drink three or four times a day, including a glass of raw water early in the morning, and two or three glasses on an empty stomach between meals. If you experience sluggishness or heaviness in the bowels, or have a swollen face or legs in the morning, you may be drinking too much Kangen water™.

Keep in mind that water by itself is non-nutritious, and you must eat meals with plenty of vegetables. Another way to judge whether you are drinking the optimum amount of Kangen water™ is to check that you have good stools. Many Kangen water™ drinkers have said that only a glass in the morning was effective when they were physically weakened. Body conditions can differ greatly from one person to another, so the way of drinking Kangen water™ may not be specified in terms of volume. It is essential that everyone recognizes his/her own condition and determines the best way to drink. Instead of drinking or not drinking when you feel like it, try to make it a habit to drink Kangen water™ regularly and lead a regular life. 

21. The LeveLuk seems extremely expensive. Is it different from other water cleaners and filters?

In terms of the hardware, other company’s devices will make three kinds of water (alkali, clean-water and acidic), while the LeveLuk additionally makes strong Kangen and strong acidic waters. 22. Is it true that strong Kangen water™ will clean dirt from a car and completely remove the oily film from the windshield?

Yes, it is. Strong Kangen water™ dissolves oil and grease.

23. Is strong acidic water effective in removing germs from kitchens, bathrooms and toilets?

It is. There is test data on this subject at Kitazato Environmental Studies Center.

24. It's been said that acidic water is an ideal weak acidic water treatment for skin.

There are many different types of skin so it is impossible to say that acidic water is ideal as a skin treatment. It has been shown to be an effective skin treatment in medical situations.

25. What are the electrodes of each unit composed of?

The electrodes are Titanium, a very hard metal – plated with platinum, a very conductive metal. All Enagic Water Ionizers currently manufactured use these two materials for their electrodes. Platinum-coated titanium electrodes are non-toxic. Platinum will not emit any particles into your drinking water. Other electrode metals such as stainless steel, can emit various reactive metals (iron, chromium, manganese, sulfur, phosphorous, copper, molybdenum, and nickel) into the water. The use of stainless steel over platinum obviously saves other manufacturers money. However, platinum is universally recognized as a non-reactive element and recommended for electrolysis.

26. How do I use Kangen Water™ for beauty care?

Winter is the coldest season of the year and the air becomes extremely dry. Skin care becomes especially important at this time. If you do not take care of your skin properly, you will suffer from dry/rough skin, chilblain and so on. Bodily fluids play an important role in maintaining your body temperature. It naturally also affects health, and since it is important to maintain the pH level of your skin between 5.0 and 6.0, please spray acidic water*1 on your skin at regular intervals, or use acidic water to make your bath during the winter when it is difficult to control the moisture of your skin. We also recommend that you eat foods and fruits that include high levels of vitamin C, A and E. Treating your skin with beauty water will let you enjoy life even more by giving you smooth and youthful skin.

27. What is beauty water (acidic water) and strong acidic water?

Acidic water has a pH of around 5.5-6.5 and strong acidic water has a pH of lower than 2.7. The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has certified acidic water as an astringent*1,2. Since strong acidic water or “hypochlorous acid water” is known to have bactericidal effects, we have been applying for certification from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Strong acidic water was certified as a food additive in Japan in June 2002.

28. What is the proper amount/method of drinking Kangen Water™?

Although there are no specific settings, the LeveLuk has a switch that allows you to produce water at three different pH levels between pH8.5 to pH9.5. For healthy individuals, the selection depends on the age, such as 8.5 for children and 9.5 for adults. In the end, however, it is up to individuals to choose the pH of their drinking water.

If the purpose of drinking Kangen Water™ is to alleviate various chronic illnesses, we recommend water with pH 9.5 (delivering electrolytic water with high content of dissolved hydrogen and a low content of hydrogen ions). The idea is not to drink as much Kangen Water™ as possible. It is ideal to have 1-1.5 cups of water first thing in the morning by pouring water into a cup with the spout to avoid unnecessary mixing of oxygen from the air. Then, drink in small portions throughout the day so that you drink over a liter (ideally 2 liters) of Kangen Water™. We recommend that you take a bottle of Kangen Water™ with you when leaving the house.

29. What is the relationship between the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and pH?

The oxidization reduction potential is the electrical potential needed to reduce or slow down rusting and decay (oxidization.)

The ORP* also represents the reduction capacity to attract active oxygen. The optimum levels for the human body is between -150– -400mV. The ORP is also closely related to pH levels. When the pH increases, the ORP also increases. It is also possible to increase ORP through electrolysis. The value depends greatly on the original water supply. An ideal ORP may not be achieved if the original water has a pH lower than 7.0. Please make sure to examine the properties of your original water, for failure to do so may lead to inexplicable errors.

30. How should I consume Kangen Water™ in order to improve my health?

People need to drink more than 0.7 gallons of water a day in order to live. The large intestine absorbs water supplied by liquids and moisture in foods consumed by the people. To maximize the health benefits gained from drinking Kangen Water™, drink more than 0.5 gallons throughout the day in small portions, without boiling it. The most effective way is to drink over 0.15 gallons of Kangen Water™ first thing in the morning prior to breakfast. Not only does the first drink in the morning replenish the water lost during the night through breathing and sweating, but the power of Kangen Water™ speeds up your metabolism1, improving your health, alleviating constipation, fatigue and even a hangover. Please consult a physician or pharmacist before using if you are receiving medical treatment or notice any abnormalities in your health.

31.What is the proper method of strong Kangen Water™ strong acidic water, and how long do they last?

Among the five types of water produced by LeveLuk, the two types for drinking (purified water/Kangen Water™ ) can go bad easily due to the container or temperature, because chlorine, which works as a bactericide, has been removed from the water. For this reason, greater care must be given to the storing of purified water and Kangen Water™. Please keep these two types of water in the refrigerator for no more than 4-5 days and replace the water in your take-out bottle everyday. For water used for domestic purposes, including acidic water, strong acidic water and strong Kangen Water™, less care is required, but we recommend changing your supply once a week.

To store, please place the water in a lightproof container*, fill it to the very top to avoid unnecessary contact with air, and store it in a cool, dark place (the refrigerator is ideal). Note: (*)

32.What is the most effective way of using beauty care water (acidic water)?

As we mentioned before, acidic water has been approved * by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare as an astringent. You can keep your skin moist by spraying it on to your skin when the air is dry. Note: (*)

33. What is the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP)?

The oxidization reduction potential is the electrical potential needed to reduce or slow down rusting and decay (oxidization). Kangen Water™ must have a negative ORP1 in order to be considered good, especially for drinking. ORP is the strength to bond with active oxygen2 reducing power, and can be measured through electronic designs in the hardware. Although a negative value is desirable for deoxidization power, the actual value varies from region to region. For example, in Osaka city, tap water records an ORP of +580-600mV, but after using LeveLuk, the ORP becomes pH9.5 and records the ideal from -150mV to -400mV. When the original water supply’s ORP increases, the ORP of Kangen Water™ moves in direct proportion. On the Japanese archipelago, LeveLuk is capable of producing water with negative levels of ORP at pH9.5 even where original water supply marks the highest positive levels of ORP.

34.Why doesn't Kangen Water™ always turn the pH testing solution blue (purple)?

Kangen Water™ produces a yellow/green color (neutral reading) in pH testing solutions even if it made on the setting for pH 9.5. This phenomenon is often observed in areas where well water is used. Even water that tests neutral has been through the electrolytic process and has the benefits. This is caused by the carbon dioxide in well water, which is produced from decomposing organic matter. Carbon dioxide readily dissolves in water, making it acidic. Water with carbon dioxide can be electrolyzed, however, the carbon dioxide is neutralized during the process. Therefore the water tests neutral on the pH scale.

Driving out the carbon dioxide from Kangen Water™ will result in the Kangen Water™ expressing blue in pH test liquid. When measuring the pH using a pH testing solution, place a few drops in the flask before pouring in freshly made Kangen Water™. There is carbon dioxide in your Kangen Water™ if the color turns blue initially, but eventually turns yellow.

35. What is the cluster theory of deoxidized water?

Approximately 15 years ago, with the help of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)* appliance, it was confirmed that water does not exist in single unit molecules, but forms a molecular population (cluster)* out of approximately 13 water molecules. These clusters are constantly repeating an aggregation-disaggregation process. The quality of water depends on the size of its clusters. For example, small clusters have active molecules that increase the capacity of water to dissolve elements (solubility), let elements pass through (permeability), and let heat pass through (conduction). Electrolysis causes the water clusters to break, and Kangen Water™ has clusters made up of five to six water molecules resulting in a lower molecular weight. This is approximately half of that of tap water (12-15 water molecules/cluster) and is most beneficial for your health.

36. What is the white fogginess in Kangen Water™?

The white fogginess apparent in Kangen Water™ is simply a result of hydrogen gas being released through electrolysis, and does not pose a problem. If you rest the glass for a while the white fogginess should disappear. Research focused on dissolved hydrogen released through electrolysis of water was presented at The Japan Functional Water Association Meeting* in late December of 2002. It reported that Kangen Water™ is effective in controlling the oxidation of lipids in the body.

It also reported that dissolved hydrogen* present in the colloidal* state has a higher activity level than active hydrogen4 produced at the instance of reaction. Based on this report, the need for broader data collection and further scientific analysis was recognized. Note: (*)

37. How do we begin drinking Kangen Water™?

It is most common to begin by setting a low pH* 5 level (between pH8 and pH9.0), and gradually increasing the amount of intake. After continuing regular intake for about two weeks, gradually adjust the pH level and amount of intake (between pH9.0-pH9.5) based on your bodily needs and physical condition. The Kangen Water™ should be as fresh as possible. For children or seniors, set the pH level at an even lower level upon starting, and gradually increase it as the body adjusts to the current pH level. In the case of infants (until about a year old), since breast milk or milk is the only thing they consume, the intestinal movement is generally different from adults, and the use of Kangen Water™ is not encouraged until the infant begins to consume more sophisticated foods. In any case, Kangen Water™ should not be used to make formula or powdered milk for infants.

pH: The logarithm of the reciprocal of hydrogen-ion concentration in gram atoms per liter. It is used as a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution on a scale of 0-14 (where 7 is neutral).

38. What are the benefits of consuming Kangen Water™ ?

Although Kangen Water™ has been recognized as being beneficial for the stomach and intestines, depending on how it is consumed, and on the individual’s physical state, it is possible (although uncommon) to experience constipation or diarrhea a few days to a few weeks after first starting to drink it. In herbal terms this is known as the Mengen effect1. The two conditions are particularly similar in that both cases, the remedy is so effective that it has a negative effect. If this occurs, the amount of intake should be reduced to half or a fourth of the previous amount until symptoms clear. Once symptoms have subsided, it is okay to resume intake. However, increasing the amount of intake with not alleviate the symptoms. Since halting intake completely may also affect the body, it is best to continue intake, but in lesser amounts. If there are no signs of improvement, please consult a doctor or pharmacist. Note: (*)

1) Mengen effect: Your body may start hurting several hours or a day after you receive chiropractic. The technical term for this is the Mengen effect. It is a natural physical response, where the body tries to go back to normal after muscles and bones have been adjusted.

39. What about differences in quality of raw water?

The type of original tap water used affects the quality of Kangen Water™ and acidic water produced by electrolysis. Although water produced with municipal city water is not affected, the efficiency of electrolysis drops when well water is used since it tends to hold a lot of free carbon dioxide*, as well as in cases where water comprising only a small amount of electrolytic minerals is used. Conversely, in cases where the water has excess minerals, the taste may be affected, or Kangen Water™ produced may be too high in pH level.

Since the water pressure of the faucet affects the production of water, it is important to confirm that genuine Kangen Water™ is being produced by regularly checking that it is set at the correct pH level, and checking the bubbles. In order to take into account the differences in the quality of the original tap water, please run a check on a daily basis. Note: (*)

Free Carbon Dioxide: Carbon Dioxide found in water. Some people prefer the taste of water with carbon dioxide, which tends to have lower pH levels. Water with less carbon dioxide is said to be better for the health. Japanese sake tastes better when there is a moderate amount of carbon dioxide in it.

40. Can Kangen Water™ be used to take medication?

Using a glass of Kangen Water™ rather than tap water to take medication is not really a big problem. However, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare gives the following directions: 1) Do not take medication with machine-produced water,

2) do not drink machineproduced water if you have anaciditas*, and

3) seek help from a doctor or pharmacist if you feel an abnormality in the body, or continued intake does not appear to improve symptoms. This is because the effectiveness of medication using Kangen Water™ has not yet been tested.

The pH level of stomach acids is about 1.8pH, and medication is prescribed in accordance to this pH level in order for it to take effect past the stomach. Therefore, to ensure full effect of the medication, we recommend leaving some time between taking the medication and drinking Kangen Water™. Note: (*)

1) Anaciditas: This symptom, also known as gastric acholrhydria, is found in people with a stomach acidity higher than the average human pH level of 1.8pH. This makes it harder for them to digest food. These people should not drink alkaline Kangen Water™.
